Hed: Police look for intersection shooters
The Tupelo Police Department was continuing its investigation Monday into a weekend shooting in which bullets were fired through a car that had stopped for a traffic light.
No one was injured in the incident, and a motive for the shooting had not been determined.
The incident occurred about 10:30 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Cliff Gookin Boulevard and Lawndale Drive.
The 23-year-old Tupelo complainant reported he was sitting at a traffic light at the intersection in a 1990 Nissan Maxima when a white Ford Thunderbird pulled alongside his car. A man sitting in the back seat of the Ford fired two shots toward the complainant. One of the bullets went through two of the Maxima’s windows, police said.
No one has been arrested in connection with the incident. Anyone with any information is urged to call the Tupelo Police Department at 841-6546.
