HED:Shooting in Corinth wounds young woman
CORINTH – An 18-year-old Crater Street woman was injured when shots were fired at her house Tuesday night.
Rocheka Walker, 18, of 715 Crater St., Corinth, was wounded in the back left shoulder when the shooting occurred about 11 p.m., said Corinth Police Chief Fred Johnson.
Walker, who was transferred to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo from Magnolia Regional Hospital in Corinth, was listed in stable condition Wednesday afternoon, a NMMC spokeswoman said.
Police have an 18-year-old Corinth man in custody for questioning in the shooting, but he had not been formally charged on Wednesday, Johnson said. Investigators are still trying to determine his role, if any, in the Tuesday night shooting.
The man had a conflict with a member of the Crater Street household, Johnson said. At this point, Johnson said police are not sure if Walker was intentionally targeted by the shooter.
Police will either file charges on the man or release him today, Johnson said.
