One less pole
High winds and rain rocked Northeast Mississippi on Thursday, downing trees and ripping out power lines. In Tupelo, 1,500-2,000 homes were without power Thursday night after a bout of bad weather tore through downtown in the evening. Earlier that day, winds toppled a rotting power pole on Pegram Street. Workers with Tupelo Water and Light rushed to repair the damage. The pole was scheduled to be changed out today, but Mother Nature took care of that work a day early.
