JACKSON – Rep. Steve Holland, D-Plantersville, is expected to remain at University of Mississippi Medical Center until midweek after undergoing gallbladder surgery over the weekend.
Rep. Bobby Moak of Bogue Chitto, who is the House Democratic leader, said Holland was doing well after the three-hour procedure.
Holland was transported to University of Mississippi Medical Center on Thursday after he reported he was not feeling well.
On Friday, Holland reported he was having gallbladder surgery and predicted he would be able to return to the state Capitol on Tuesday or Wednesday where the 2014 session of the Legislature is under way.
On Monday, Moak said Holland was doing well, but that he would be hospitalized longer than previously anticipated.
Holland has been in the House since 1984 where he represents portions of Lee County.
