HOLLY SPRINGS – Incumbent Andre DeBerry and challenger Barry Thomas will see who wins the town’s highest seat in Tuesday’s election runoff.
DeBerry, the town’s mayor since 2001, racked up 903 votes but ran second to Thomas’s 998 votes in the May 5 Democratic primary. Two other candidates competed in the runoff.
Thomas is president of Thomas Paving Co. and a newcomer to city politics. He has campaigned on a promise of creating a business-friendly environment.
DeBerry is touting the investments in development and infrastructure made during his two terms.
The runoff winner will have no opponent in the general election.
