HOLLY SPRINGS – Holly Springs Utility Department worker Phillip Edwards died in an on-the-job accident around 10 a.m. Thursday, according to Mayor Kelvin O. Buck.

Marshall County Coroner James Richard Anderson declared Edwards, a Holly Springs resident, dead on the scene. The 37-year-old man was working on sewer lines at the intersection of Memphis Street and Park Street when the accident happened, Anderson said.

Edwards’ body was sent to Jackson for autopsy.

“I have launched a thorough investigation into the circumstances of this most unfortunate loss,” Buck said. “I, along with the Holly Springs Board of Aldermen and the Holly Springs Utility Department management and staff, offer our deepest sympathies and prayers for the family and friends of Phillip Edwards.”
