Henry’s of Aberdeen
• Henry’s of Aberdeen got its start in 1919 as Mim’s Style Shops.
Over the years, it changed owners and names, including Moore-Griffin and Moore’s Man’s Land.
Henry and Dianne Hammack bought the store in January 1974.
Retail was nothing new for Henry Hammack, who has worked in the industry since high school. He started his career in Laurel in the ladies’ shoes department and worked at various retailers over the years.
The couple added women’s clothing in 1977 and has since expanded the department. Now, the two-story business sells a lot of men’s and women’s clothing, along with women’s jewelry.
It also does a lot of tuxedo rentals.
In addition, the store performs in-house alterations. Dianne Hammack said the service is especially popular in the women’s department, where one free alteration is offered per garment.
Henry’s also delivers and mails quite a few orders, thanks in part to its website, HenrysofAberdeen.com.
“We’re just a small town so you have to reach out,” Dianne Hammack said.
