Lynette Adams is the new owner of Scrapbooks & More Too. She bought the store last month from Jean Watson, who opened the business 10 years ago.
Adams had been a longtime customer and had worked Saturdays at the store. Last year, Watson decided she wanted to get out of the business to spend more time with her family.
At the same time, Adams was in a transition at her job at a mortgage company.
“My husband and I stepped out and made the leap,” said Adams, who also works at Mamp&F Bank.
The store sells scrapbooking materials and makes its own diecut words and images for customers. A major focus of the business is the women who go to the store to actually work on their scrapbooking.
“Meeting the ladies in here – you can not beat it,” Watson said. “It’s a society.”
The store lets scrapbookers use their tables and workspace for free throughout the week. Every other Friday night, the store hosts a $5 “crop night” from 6 p.m. to midnight. About 25 women show up to socialize, eat and scrapbook.
“It’s not a job,” Adams said. “It’s a passion. When everything else is bad, you come in here and it’s uplifting and it’s fun. The ladies come in here and you laugh.”
