The Shoe and Boot Outlet celebrates 27 years in business this year.
Diane Spears started the business as a ladies shoe store, but transitioned to a boot store after seeing stronger sales with her men’s merchandise.
Now the store sells a variety of Western and work boots for men, women and children. Prices range from $50 to $500.
The bargain room also is a popular stop for customers.
Shoe and Boot Outlet sells a lot of safety toe boots, along with custom-ordered boots.
“We spend time with every customer,” Spears said. “If we don’t have it in stock, we order it.”
Spears carries basic boots, along with boots made of elephant, crocodile, ostrich and other exotic skins.
Spears said it’s important for her to keep plenty of inventory in her store so customers are impressed and surprised when they walk in.
“When they walk in, they go, ‘Oh, I didn’t realize you had this much,'” she said. “We’ve got it where there’s almost not enough room to sit down to try them on.”
Last year, Shoe and Boot Outlet had its best year ever. She credits the success to good inventory, location, customer service and employees.
“Customers will keep coming back as long as they get good customer service,” she said. “We do whatever we can to please them.”
