OXFORD – Dirt work will not commence on the site of the future Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi until after a site design is approved by Oxford officials.
Jondi Roberson, marketing director for the hospital, said the current work on the 150-acre site between Old Taylor Road and South Lamar Boulevard is limited to removing timber. Baptist officials hope to present the site plan to the Board of Aldermen in September, she said, and begin site work soon thereafter.
Because the location is hilly and ravined, extensive dirt relocation and leveling will be necessary, followed by at least 18 months during which the soil will be allowed to settle before construction begins in 2015, Roberson said.
