A hostage situation in Lee County ended without injuries.

Lee County Sheriff’s deputies and a SWAT team responded to a home on County Road 1389 in the Spring Hill community just east of Saltillo on Friday night. A suspect inside the home had a hostage held at gunpoint, and the suspect fired several rounds while the Lee County SWAT team was on scene, but no one was injured.

According to Sheriff Jim Johnson, officers were in negotiations with the suspect for “several hours,” and tear gas was eventually deployed. The suspect then came out using the hostage as a shield, and the SWAT team took the suspect down.

Both the suspect and hostage are OK and were treated on scene for tear gas exposure.

The suspect has been transported to Lee County Jail and will face arraignment Monday.

According to Johnson, a domestic dispute led to the hostage situation. He added that several weapons were recovered.
