House fire death under investigation in Aberdeen

ABERDEEN – Authorities in Aberdeen are investigating a house fire that killed a man early Thursday morning.
According to Monroe County Coroner Alan Gurley, Larry James Rogers, 52, was pronounced dead at Pioneer Community Hospital at 1:25 a.m. Rogers was found in a house fire at 403 Hardy St. According to Monroe County Emergency 911, the first call on the fire was reported at 1:08 a.m.
“We know what probably caused the death, but we are still sending the body to Jackson for an autopsy,” Gurley said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the state Fire Marshal’s Office and the Aberdeen Police Department.
The autopsy will be conducted today at the State Medical Examiner’s Office.
