Houston man recovering after Chickasaw County crash

VAN VLEET – A Houston man was airlifted after colliding with a log truck in Chickasaw County on Tuesday.
According to Mississippi Highway Patrol Cpl. Chris Turnipseed, Ronald Johnson, 47, of Houston, was driving a Toyota Camry eastbound on Highway 32 near Ross Hill around 5 p.m. when he said he fell asleep and his car moved into the westbound lane.
James Wofford, 46, of Woodland, was driving the log truck and said he was traveling west when he saw the car and swerved to try to avoid it.
Johnson’s car collided with the back wheels of the log truck and he was extricated from the vehicle and airlifted to North Mississippi Medical Center with non-life-threatening but serious injuries.
Wofford had no injuries.
Both were wearing seat belts.
