Tupelo police report that northbound Hwy. 45 between McCullough and Hwy. 78, is open again after being blocked for about four hours on Thursday afternoon.
An 18-wheeler had an accident on Hwy. 45 that was carrying a massive boiler. The boiler came from West Point and was on its way to Philadephia, Pa.
The truck accident happened around 2:30 p.m. Traffic was initially moving in one lane, then was shut down since it couldn’t handle the traffic.
No one was injured.
At times, northbound traffic was backed up beyond the Main St. interchange.
According to scanner reports, the road was cleared and reopened about 6:30 p.m.
