JACKSON – Officials with the USA International Ballet Competition have announced that 119 dancers from 36 countries will compete for medals and awards when the event is held this June in Mississippi.
The USA IBC, the official ballet competition of the United States, will be held June 12-27 in Jackson.
The event’s executive director, Sue Lobrano, says dancers were selected for their technical ability, artistry, physique and spirit.
The USA IBC is a two-week, “Olympic-style” competition where dancers compete for gold, silver and bronze medals; cash awards; company contracts; and scholarships. It’s held every four years in Jackson.
