ICC baseball player dies in accident

FULTON – An Itawamba Community College baseball player has died after being involved in a car accident.

Zachary Carpenter, 19, of Belmont died in a one-car crash on John Rankin Highway about 1:50 a.m. Saturday, according to Itawamba County Sheriff Chris Dickinson.

Dickinson said it appears Carpenter lost control of his vehicle and was the only one in the car.

The crash is still under investigation.

ICC Athletics Director Carrie Ball-Williamson said they are saddened by the incident.

“We appreciate all the kind words and ask that everyone continue to remember Zack’s family, friends, teammates, and coaches in their prayers during this time.”

The Itawamba Community College athletic department sends its prayers and thoughts to Carpenter’s family and friends during this difficult time.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete but will be through Deaton Funeral Home.
