Three northeast Mississippi communities have received almost $240,000 in Community Development Block Grant funds under the Emergency Public Facilities awards program.
• Alcorn County: An award of $99,599 will be used to install a box culvert under Wheeler Grove Road/C.R. 512, to replace an old corroded pipe which failed and caused a road collapse in February.
• Town of Golden: A grant of $54,700 was awarded for sewer improvements.
• Town of Walnut: The town received an $85,000 grant for water line improvements.
Awards are made for projects that correct urgent infrastructure problems.
