Injured child from bus-car collision discharged from hospital

CORINTH – Magnolia Regional Health Center reports that a child kept overnight following a Tuesday bus collision with a car in Biggersville was no longer listed as a patient Wednesday afternoon.
The car’s driver, 53-year-old Phylles Rhodes of Mantachie, also was not listed as a patient at the hospital, said spokeswoman Joannie Vaughn. Rhodes was reported by the Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol to have been transported to the hospital following the accident, but did not believe she had life-threatening injuries. The driver of the bus, Shawn Mathis, 39, of Saltillo, was not injured.
The accident, from which ten children and an adult were transported by ambulance to Magnolia Regional Health Center after the collision in front of Biggersville School, remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol.
