Iuka post office to be renamed for veteran

By NEMS Daily Journal

IUKA – At 10:30 a.m. Monday the sacrificial service of Sgt. Jason W. Vaughn in the Iraq War will be memorialized in the renaming of the Iuka post office in his honor.
Vaughn died May 10, 2007, in Baqubah, Iraq, of wounds suffered when a roadside bomb exploded near the vehicle he was riding in. The 29-year-old soldier from Iuka was serving his second tour of duty in Iraq.
He was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart and the Combat Infantryman’s Badge.
U.S. Rep. Alan Nunnelee, R-Miss., introduced the bill that made the renaming possible, and he will participate in the dedication ceremony.
