Ivancic receives top Jefferson Award

TUPELO – Tupelo pediatrician Dr. Ed Ivancic has been selected as the top recipient of the North Mississippi Jefferson Award.
Ivancic, is the founder of CATCH Kids, which provides free school and community-based medical clinics for children in Lee, Chickasaw and Pontotoc counties.
He was selected by an independent panel of judges to represent the region for consideration of the National Jefferson Award, which was established by former first lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in 1971 to recognize those who serve their communities in selfless ways. The national award winners will be announced in Washington DC in June.
WTVA also recognized the four other community leaders with Jefferson Awards: Jeffrey Bailey of Tupelo, founder of a Water Power fitness program; Elizabeth Gwin, former executive director of the Prairie Girl Scout council; and Noah Robertson of Iuka, who created an anti-bullying program for his school.
