Jail visitor arrested on drug charges

CORINTH – A Sunday visitor at the Alcorn County Regional Jail was arrested when she attempted to smuggle drugs into the facility.

Evelyn Kemp Rush, 42, of 102 Channel St., Madison, was arrested on two counts of introducing drugs into the prison, said narcotics investigator Darrell Hopkins.

The two charges allege Rush had more than 2 ounces of marijuana and 16 hydrocodone pills in her clothes when she tried to enter the jail.

Bond was set at $6,000 professional only.
