Coy Price, of Hatley Road, Amory, was arrested at the school around 9 a.m. Monday on two counts of selling crack cocaine incurred off the school grounds, said Monroe County Sheriff Ruble Maxey.
The charge was unrelated to the school, Maxey said, and no students were involved.
According to Becker Elementary School Principal Terry Walters, Price is no longer employed by the school. Walters declined further comment.
Price is currently out on $25,000 bond. No other arrests have been made, Maxey said, but the case is under investigation by the sheriff’s office.
Agents with North Mississippi Narcotics and the Amory Police Department also assisted in the arrest.
According to police reports, a suspect entered the store, came to the counter and displayed something like a weapon under his shirt and demanded money. The clerk gave the man an undetermined amount of money, and the suspect left in a white 1995 Chevrolet Capri, King said.
Garner may be a suspect in another robbery in Amory, King said. The Amory Police Department assisted in the investigation.
Bond was set for Garner at $125,000.
Gregory A. Scott, 38, of 1902 Briar Ridge Road, Tupelo, was charged with possession of cocaine and possession of stolen property after the patrolman discovered the suspect’s 1994 Chevrolet truck was stolen, said Sgt. Tim Tate, a Tupelo detective.
The truck was reported stolen from Auto Center in Tupelo in July, Tate said.
Scott is currently being held in Lee County Detention center on $25,000 bond.
