Judge: Blount's attorney cannot withdraw, yet

By NEMS Daily Journal

GREENVILLE – Wendell Blount’s attorney cannot withdraw his representation, at least not until after the Calhoun County man is sentenced.
Monday, U.S. District Judge W. Allen Pepper denied attorney David Hill’s request to withdraw. But Pepper left the door open for later.
Hill of Oxford asked for the change after he said he and Blount lost trust with each other through his 2010 trial and after.
A federal jury found Blount guilty in the vehicular death of a Dutch cyclist on the Natchez Trace in Chickasaw County.
He was set set for sentencing when he took off from house arrest.
Now, he objects to some details in a pre-sentence report as he’s held in the Lafayette County Detention Center.
