TUPELO – Thomas J.Ward’s trial was postponed Wednesday with unresolved questions about expert evidence.
Ward, 24, of Saltillo was indicted on a charge of depraved heart murder in the 2010 shooting death of 20-year-old Anna Catherine McCoy.
He is pleading not guilty and his trial was set to begin Monday in Lee County, presided over by Judge James L. Roberts Jr.
On Wednesday, Roberts agreed to delay the trial to give both sides time to assess expert evidence. The next court term is in November.
