ABERDEEN – Federal prosecutors were ordered last week to respond to Richard “Dickie” Scruggs’ motion to vacate one of his judicial bribery convictions.
Last week, Senior U.S. District Judge Glen H. Davidson gave them 30 days from his July 20 order to do so.
Scruggs, of Oxford, petitioned the court June 23 to throw out his conviction and sentence related to allegations he improperly influenced then-Circuit Judge Bobby DeLaughter, who presided over a lawsuit against Scruggs and others.
