TUPELO – Sarah “Sadie” Gardner of Tupelo is District Attorney Trent Kelly’s newest assistant attorney.
Gardner, 34, most recently was in private practice with her own firm in Tupelo after three years as staff attorney for Senior U.S. District Judge Glen H. Davidson.
She was sworn in Friday by her father, Circuit Judge Thomas Gardner III, in a brief ceremony in the Lee County Justice Center. Her mother, Sue, stood with her during the oath of office.
The Millsaps and University of Mississippi School of Law graduate will be based in Tupelo sharing prosecutorial responsibilities with fellow assistant district attorneys Brian Neely and John Weddle.
While Gardner admitted her new role is quite a change, she said she is happy to be back in the Justice Center.
“I grew up on the second floor,” she laughed, alluding to where her father works as judge.
