Judges hear guilty pleas to child porn charges

Two Northeast Mississippi men pleaded guilty Thursday to separate federal child pornography charges.
Brian Pate, 23 of Amory was indicted March 25 on one count that he possessed a computer hard drive containing illegal images of child pornography shipped across state lines.
He faces up to 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and up to life supervised release.
His guilty plea, for a crime committed in Amory, came in Oxford before Chief U.S. District Judge Michael P. Mils.
Bradley Pegues, 20, of Belden pleaded guilty to the same crime committed in Lee County. He faces the same penalties.
District Judge W. Allen Pepper presided at his plea hearing in Greenville.
Pegues was indicted Jan. 27 on counts of possession, as well as aiding and abetting the computer files’ transportation on the Internet.
Their sentences will not be handed down for several weeks until the U.S. Probation Service completes reports to guide their judges’ decisions.
