GREENWOOD – The state premiere of “The Help” will be July 30 in Madison.
That’s a change from what director Tate Taylor said he was hoping to do. Much of the movie was filmed in Greenwood, and Taylor told the local leaders in May that he intended to screen the movie there before its Aug. 12 release.
Greenwood no longer has a movie theater.
Based on Kathryn Stockett’s best-selling novel set in 1960s Jackson, the movie explores the relationship between black maids and their white employers, with the emergence of the civil rights movement.
