Jury: Hamilton guilty in Holleman income tax evasion case

GREENVILLE – West Point CPA Gary Hamilton was found guilty at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday on two counts he helped a Tupelo man evade taxes for several years.

Hamilton, 62, went on trial Monday in Greenville before District Judge W. Allen Pepper. His co-defendant, Jack Holleman of Tupelo, pleaded guilty last week.

Court records show the federal jury took 2 1/4 hours to deliberate Hamilton’s fate on the charges.

Holleman is a real estate developer.

Neither man will be sentenced for several weeks until completion of reports by the U.S. Probation Service to guide Pepper’s decision on their punishments.
