Jury reaches verdict in Pontotoc Gause trial

A man was found guilty of manslaugher and burglary in Pontotoc County Circuit Court Thursday.

That was the verdict from a panel of 12 jurors in the trial of Curtis Wayne Gause after two days of testimony and one morning of closing arguments.

Gause, 44, was on trial in the stabbing death of Jeffery Swords in the Ecru community on March 22, 2008.

Gause took the stand Wednesday in his own defense and told the three man, nine woman jury that he “just snapped” when he saw his estranged wife in bed with Swords.
