TUPELO – Karate instructor James Everett Dutschke faces three state indictments that he fondled three females under the age of 16.
Dutschke, 41, of Tupelo pleaded not guilty during his April 15 arraignment and is free on $25,000 bond.
It’s unclear why the grand jury issued three separate indictments on April 1, instead of consolidating them into one charge with three counts.
The documents claim that Dutschke’s alleged unlawful “touching” of one girl, now 18, occurred between January 2007 and March 2011.
The second alleged incidents involved a girl now 8 from November 2012 to January 2013.
The third charge claims he fondled a 7-year-old girl on Jan. 16, 2013.
Dutschke, a former Republican candidate for the Legislature, was first charged Jan. 18 with two counts of child molestation.
Later, his bond was reduced from $1 million to $25,000.
Dutschke successfully argued to a judge that his $1 million bond had the same effect as no bond at all.
A condition of his bond is that he have no contact with any of the minors named in his indictments or any other minor unless it is a family member.
