PONTOTOC – Karen Tutor will become the new superintendent of the Pontotoc City School District, effective July 1.
Tutor, the district’s assistant superintendent for the past two years, will replace Adam Pugh, who will become the superintendent of Lafayette County Schools. Tutor, 50, was chosen by the district’s school board on Thursday night.
“It was a unanimous decision by the board because of her vision, her plan and her strength in curriculum and instruction,” said Gary Golden, president of the Pontotoc City School Board. “We want to really see it through to be a Star district, and we feel that she will allow us to be that one day.”
