King kicks off MSU concert series

STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) — Delta-born blues music icon B.B. King kicks off the 2011-12 Mississippi State University Lyceum Series season with an Oct. 11 concert.

The performances take place throughout the fall and spring semesters. All performances are at 7:30 p.m. in Bettersworth Auditorium of Lee Hall.

Other performances:

— The Carolina Chocolate Drops on Nov. 10 — a recent Grammy winner for Best Traditional Folk Album.

— The TALK Dance Company on Jan. 24 — founded in 1996 in Philadelphia.

— The Acting Company’s “Julius Caesar” on Feb. 23 — founded by John Houseman and Margot Harley in 1972 in New York.

— The St. Lawrence String Quartet on March 1 — considered among the top chamber ensembles of its generation.
