STARKVILLE – Mississippi State’s women will try to keep their perfect home record intact when in-state rival Southern Miss visits Humphrey Coliseum at 7 p.m. today.
The Lady Bulldogs (7-2) are 5-0 at home this season and are trying to rebound from Sunday’s 63-62 loss at Louisiana Tech.
Senior point guard Diamber Johnson (Pontotoc) had 25 points in that game but hit just 10 of 28 shots.
On the season, Johnson leads the SEC in scoring at 19.1 points per game. Teammate Porsha Porter averages 13.7 points and 3.6 steals per game for State.
USM (3-5) leads the series 21-16, but MSU has won the last three meetings, and head coach Sharon Fanning-Otis is 9-5 versus the Golden Eagles. Southern Miss is led by Tanecka Carey’s 19.1 points per game.
