OXFORD – Lafayette County Board of Supervisors voted Monday to appoint a committee to draft an ordinance that would implement building codes.
The board voted last month on the advice of the county’s planning commission to start the process for limited implementation of the International Building Code.
Supervisors approved a committee consisting of County Engineer Larry Britt, County Attorney David O’Donnell, District 4 Supervisor Chad McLarty, District 1 Supervisor Mike Pickens, Planning Commission member Dick Marchbanks and Planning Commission Chair T.J. Ray.
As discussed so far, building codes will apply only to commercial or subdivision construction.
