Land sold for new Oxford hospital

OXFORD — The purchase of 160 acres in Oxford for Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi’s new medical center has been completed.

The Oxford Eagle reports that the price tag for the land was not been released.

The 160-acre area is located just west of the current hospital. It’s owned by several people.

The area is surrounded on three sides by land inside the city limits. One side of the square-shaped acreage is outside the city limits and in Lafayette County.

A lawsuit has been filed in Lafayette County Chancery Court requesting that portion of the land to be annexed into the city limits. Officials say whether that annexation goes through or not will not affect the placement of the new hospital.
