SALTILLO – A late night fire damaged a Saltillo house Tuesday night.
Saltillo Fire Chief Mark Nowell said his department responded to the 105 Briarcliff Drive blaze at 11:30 p.m.
“When we arrived on the scene, there was a large amount of fire in the garage area and attic space,” Nowel said. “It was a very large fire with flames visible from a distance.”
The homeowner was the only person home at the time of the fire and Nowell said they treated her for smoke inhalation on the scene. She sustained no other serious injuries.
“The house is still standing,” Nowell said. “They will be able to retrieve some personal items but the damage is extensive.
Nowell said the homeowner was asleep on the opposite end of the house from the fire. The smoke detectors activated and then the homeowner’s dog woke her.
The fire was out by 12:36 a.m. and firemen checked for hot spots until 3 a.m.
