AMORY – According to Amory police Chief Ronny Bowen, a shooting occurred Monday night at a residence on 5th Avenue North.
“We had a call of shots fired and have no suspect, but there are several people present in the house that we still need to speak to,” Bowen said just before 11 p.m.
According to Bowen, an officer got a call indicating there was about to be trouble. The officer was three blocks away when three shots were fired from the home and five shots were returned from a person or persons on foot. The officer then called for back up.
Bowen said no one was hit in the exchange of gun fire. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is assisting in the investigation.
