Law officer fathers honored with movie tickets

TUPELO – Area Christians appreciate fathers who work in law enforcement, and they’re buying them movie tickets to show it.
Officers with the Tupelo Police Department and the Lee County Sheriff’s Department are receiving passes to see “Courageous,” the newest movie from a Baptist church in Georgia that produced “Fireproof” and “Facing the Giants.”
“Police officers have to be courageous every single day they go to work,” said the Rev. David Ball, pastor of Hope Church in Tupelo. It takes courage as well to be a good father and husband, said Ball, whose church bought 100 tickets and rented a screen at the Malco Theater for TPD officers and their spouses to see the film Saturday morning.
“Courageous” follows the story of a group of policemen striving to be strong, Christian men in a culture that doesn’t always appreciate their struggle.
The American Family Association purchased tickets for Lee County Sheriff’s deputies and their spouses for shows on Monday and Thursday.
