Lawyer for Davis' ex-wife wants gag order lifted

By The Associated Press

SOUTHAVEN — A Dec. 19 court date has been set for a judge to decide if Southaven Mayor Greg Davis violated a gag order by talking to the media about his divorce case.

Martin Zummach, representing Davis’ ex-wife, Suzann Savage Davis, filed a contempt of court petition on Nov. 23, The Commercial Appeal reports. Zummach claims the mayor violated the gag order on separate occasions by discussing the divorce settlement case with Memphis television reporters.

Zummach wants DeSoto County Chancery Court Judge Percy Lynchard to lift the gag order and allow both sides to comment on matters in the court file.

The order was requested by Davis, and granted on Oct. 31 by Lynchard. The stated reason was to protect the former couple’s three children in the ongoing dispute.
