Lee County couple has bouncing baby New Year

TUPELO – Chloe Marie Clark was supposed to be here on Dec. 26, but her mom and dad didn’t mind the late arrival.
Chloe was the first baby born in Lee County in 2011. The 6-pound 9-ounce baby girl was born at 12:37 a.m., nearly a week later than her initial expected arrival date. Chloe’s parents, LeeAnn Hall and Keygon Clark, from Golden, were both shocked and overwhelmed with joy when the doctor told them, “This is it.”
“When I came in last night, I had no idea that it would be the night that I actually would have her,” said Hall, as she held her sleeping baby. “She is a week late so I wasn’t getting my hopes up, especially not expecting her to be the first one born in the new year. But I guess she had other plans.”
As the first baby of 2011, the family received a gift basket from the North Mississippi Medical Center. Filled with goodies for the baby and the parents, the basket – and the attention – given to the family was pleasantly overwhelming for the new parents.
“I expected a few family members to be here, but nothing like this,” said Clark, looking at all the cameras in the room. “This is our first child so we are just tickled to see all the attention she is getting.
“Like LeeAnn said, we thought they were just going to send us back home like they have before, but we are so glad she is here today. We are going to enjoy showing her the video when she gets old enough.”
