By NEMS Daily Journal

A woman is hospitalized in Jackson after being severely assaulted early Saturday morning, and two are in custody.
Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson said about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, 911 received a call from a residence on County Road 2890 in the Pratts community. A female victim had come to that residence and said she’d been assaulted and left.
The person at the residence, who did not know her, called 911. When they arrived, the sheriff’s department found a white female who had been severely assaulted. She was transported to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo and then was transferred to Jackson for treatment.
Two individuals of interest are in custody in connection with the incident this evening. The Prentiss County Sheriff’s Office assisted Saturday afternoon with bringing in two suspects. A female suspect was taken into custody and a male suspect ran from law enforcement into the woods. He was found and taken to Lee County jail.
