UPDATE: 5:50 p.m.

LEE COUNTY – A Lee County man was taken to the hospital after being shot in the back and back of the head Friday afternoon.
James Davis McGlaun, 48, of Lee County, was taken to the North Mississippi Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries after being shot in the back from a distance with a 12-gauge shotgun around 4 p.m. Friday.
Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson said they have taken a suspect into custody after the shooting. They will charge him and release his name at a later date.
Neighbors identified the man who shot the gun as a middle aged man known as Peter Rabbit.
Johnson said the suspect left his home at 312 County Road 141, stole a 12-gauge shotgun from his neighbor’s house and then shot across his yard at his other neighbor.
He said the distance between the shooter and McGlaun saved McGlaun’s life.
Earnestine McGlaun, mother of the man who was shot, said the suspect, her nephew, was intoxicated and upset with his mother when he broke into the neighboring house. She said the house belongs to the suspect’s sister.
Johnson said the suspect has been known to cause problems in the area and has prior convictions.
He said they would release more details on the suspect when he is arraigned next week.
