TUPELO – The Lee-Itawamba Library System Administrative Board of Trustees has unanimously named Melissa Holekamp as the interim director of the library system.
Holekamp will assume the position on July 1. She’ll take over for Director Jan Willis, who announced his retirement in March after a 49-year association with the library.
“Melissa’s good, she’s very good, and she likes people,” said Willis, whose last day will be June 30. “She enjoys serving people. Not everybody does in this world. She likes this library and she’s built up a real good career over the past seven years.”
Holekamp, who is currently the assistant director, is not a candidate for the director’s position, which requires an American Library Association-accredited master’s degree.
“Melissa is an excellent transitional person,” Willis said. “She is someone who will be a very positive person during that time. It makes me very happy.”
