Thanks to all who joined us with comments Monday. We’re back with issue No. 2 of Let’s Talk where we have a conversation about the news, sports and entertainment that matters to you.

Today is the New Albany beer vote. Click here to read more details on that. Do you think it will pass? What are your thoughts on the alcohol law changes we’ve seen recently in Northeast Mississippi?

Interesting to note that the last time an alcohol vote was up in Union County I understand the News-Exchange had an Online poll that showed people in favor of the sale, but the actually vote was no. The yes are winning online are winning again online. We’ll have all the numbers here tonight.

Another school closing due to the weather
Congrats to the North Tippah School District students and faculty – no school for one more day. School officials have told Southern Sentinel’s Kedrick Storey that tdue to frozen pipes there is no school today.

The district consists of Falkner High School, Falkner Elementary School, Walnut High School, Walnut Attendance Center and Chalybeate Elementary School.

We have not heard if they will be back tomorrow, but we’ll let you know when we hear.

Speaking of the weather, here is the forecast from the National Weather Service for today –

Today: Sunny, with a high near 38. North wind between 5 and 15 mph.

Tonight: Clear, with a low around 21. North wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

How will people react to Mark McGwire?
As a baseball fan I was sad to hear something I, and probably you, suspected yesterday. On Monday, Mark McGwire said he used steroids over several seasons, in both Oakland and St. Louis, including that 70-homer season of 1998.

I am a Cub fan, but who didn’t love that magic year of 1998 and the chase of the record. An AP story today says Cardinal fans will forgive McGwire. Click here for the story.

I imagine that is true. St. Louis is a great baseball town and I think they will forgive him.

We’ll have to see what McGwire does now and how he speaks out about steroids.

Great interview by Bob Costas of McGwire last night in my opinion – Click here for interview.

Those are my thoughts on the news today. Thanks for joining us. We’ll be talking in the comments below. Let us know what is news for you today and why. Thanks for visiting us here.
