LIMB, RUBBISH PICKUP TO BE HELD TWICE A YEAR

FULTON – Tree limbs and other rubbish placed at the curb by residents now will only be picked up twice a year in Fulton.

Mayor Jack Creely said in the past workers would pick up the limbs and other rubbish on a sporadic basis. Regular garbage service runs twice a week.

The rubbish pickups were taking up a lot of the time and taking the workers away from other jobs, Creely said. The numerous pickups also were costing the city almost $20,000 a year.

The board voted on March 18 to change the way the rubbish is picked up. Pickups will now occur only twice a year, once each in October and April. He said rubbish pickup will continue as usual this year for April and May to help residents become familiar with the new system.

After May, the next pickup will not be until October.
