TUPELO – Police have made three arrests in the armed robbery of a local liquor store that happened in July.
Leonta Gates, Denarvis Ruff and Talron Coleman were charged late last week with the July 26 armed robbery of a liquor store on South Gloster Street. Gates and Ruff have $500,000 bonds. Coleman was arrested Saturday and his bond has not been set. All three were in the Lee County jail Saturday.
Someone allegedly hit the clerk in the head with a bottle before taking an undisclosed amount of money from the store.
Thanks to tips from the public, Tupelo Police Chief Tony Carleton said they were able to make the arrests.
Gates also is charged with an auto burglary that happened on Ida Street in mid-June, according to Carleton.
