Local ties to Masters winner

Linda Moore of Guntown was cheering for her nephew, Bubba Watson, as he battled to win the Masters in a playoff on Sunday afternoon.
Moore’s younger sister, Molly, is Bubba’s mom.
“We’ve heard from a lot of folks today, friends and neighbors,” Moore said. “I was excited to see my sister on television. She looked good.”
The sisters, with the maiden name Rampley, grew up in Prentiss County and attended Booneville High School. Molly Rampley, 11 years younger than her sister, graduated in 1965 and would eventually move to Florida.
Molly’s husband, the golfer’s father, died of cancer last year.
Moore said her sister and family used to visit Northeast Mississippi when Bubba was younger.
“I started keeping up with him in the paper, and I had no idea how many people played golf,” Moore said. “I’m not a golf fan, I’m a Bubba fan.”
