HATTIESBURG — Campaign workers for the candidate who came out 37 votes short of being elected mayor of Hattiesburg are going into their second week of inspecting ballots. Once Dave Ware’s campaign is done, it will be time for Mayor Johnny DuPree’s campaign workers to do the same thing.
The Hattiesburg American reports that some allegations of impropriety have come up.
Several voters say that the two top finishers’ names were the only ones on their ballots for the five-man race.
Shawn O’Hara, Nathan Jordan and Clyde Stewart all ran for mayor as independents.
Tina Mann is among three votes who wrote to Ware’s campaign, saying their electronic ballots showed only his name and DuPree’s.
