OXFORD — Lafayette County authorities say a Taylor man has been charged in the death of his cousin.
Sheriff’s investigator Scott Mills tells the Oxford Eagle that 42-year-old George Serrico Williams was charged this past week with manslaughter by culpable negligence. Mills says Williams was released from jail after posting a $5,000 bond.
Mills say the body of 27-year-old Jeffrey O’Neal Booker was found Aug. 10 lying on a county road. He says it appears Williams, Booker’s cousin, ran into Booker as the man was walking in the road.
Booker was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mills says the two men had been with each other earlier in the day.
